Respect Your ELDER-berries!

In a wellness journey that spans more than a decade, I was bound to find tools and remedies that maybe didn’t align with the mainstream, but have been very effective for centuries. One such is Sambucus nigra~or elderberries. I began making my own elderberry syrup 3+ years ago because I wanted to know where my ingredients were coming from; that my berries weren’t irradiated or fumigated; and I didn’t want alcohol as an active ingredient. So, I have spent time researching where to get local/organic berries, raw/local honey, and invested in the best ingredients to offer the best end product! Here are 5 benefits of elderberries:

1) They have been shown to be supportive of the immune system (we found this to be especially true over the past 3 years).

2) They contain antiviral properties~they work by reducing hemagglutination (clumping together of red blood cells) which in turn helps reduce virus replication. The antiviral component in elderberries prevents viruses from multiplying and spreading.

3)They have antibacterial benefits against certain bacteria strains.

4) They may have anti-inflammatory properties. Studies and research are still in the active stage to confirm this.

5) There are studies showing elderberries have antioxidant activity in the human body from their high levels of anthocyanin and flavonol.

To say I’m a little passionate about this secret powerhouse in my wellness arsenal is an understatement~and I’ve loved building a consistent clientele who adores it just as much as I do!

On March 30th I will be teaching a workshop on elderberry syrup. LMK if you want to join us!

Cheering you on,

Noelle
