Dough, Dough, Dough

It takes too much time.

Is it really better than the loaf on the shelf?

It’s complicated to learn.

What is the benefit of it~truly?

Well, I can tell you there is just something amazing about cooking and preparing your own food…and homemade sourdough bread is a gold ribbon earner in this category!!

Yes, it takes a little planning to let your dough rise and proof and then cook it…but no more time than anything else that is worth the time investment!!! My friend, Misty Ray, gave me some valuable tips about a month ago when I decided I wanted to give this nourishing tradition a go again. Now, my loaves are turning out like champs!!

Is it better than store bought?? Uhm, that is a silly question…the fresh, crusty, airy loaves that you pull from the oven don’t even compare to the loaf on the shelf…that has sat there for….who knows how long?!?!

It is not complicated, but there are a few key steps that play into a successful loaf of sourdough. I have them written down if you’re interested! And, what is beautiful about this skill is you can add flavors and seasonings to your loaves to add a special twist.

The biggest benefits of sourdough are:

*It’s fermented so it is easy on the gut

*there are only 4 ingredients

*it saves you money

*it is heartier than store bought so you need less slices

*you know all the ingredients in it

*it is one of the sweetest gifts to share with others

So, do I think you should try your hand at this homemade classic? YES!!! And, when food becomes an issue the more skills you know how to do the better equipped you’ll be to take care of your family and loved ones!

Cheering you on,

Noelle
