To Read a Label or Not to Read…
I know, I have been guilty of it, too. We do our grocery shopping, and something processed looks yummy, so it ends up in our cart. Yet, we don’t really know what is in it or how nutritionally sound it is. You want a quick fix to this dilemma….
:SHOP FRESH AND RAW OVER PROCESSED!!:
(yet looking at packaging and labeling on produce is becoming essential these days, too…but that would be a whole other post!!)
When we started our wellness journey, the first place I dove in was in the food department. I knew what we put in our bodies would ultimately be key to how we felt overall. I began reading labels like a fien, and the more ingredients I couldn’t pronounce or the more ingredients that were listed, the less likely I was going to buy it!
Every once in awhile I will find a processed food that likely isn’t an A+, but it is pretty good on my all-around grading scale. Here is my latest Costco find, and although it has dairy in it, I could pronounce ALL the ingredients! No nitrates, no antibiotics, no gluten and pork-free were all, “Heck Yeses!!”
For a quick and nutritious meal we baked these, made a pot of rice in our rice cooker, steamed fresh broccoli, and enjoyed something different and new. And, there were leftovers for 2 of my men for lunches today, which is always a huge WIN!!!
